Monthly Muse: Marilla from Home of Edith

Monthly Muse for April: Marilla from Hobart, Tasmania

Daphne Nightie Dress Meadowsweet Farmhouse

There’s something quietly enchanting about the way Marilla sees the world—through golden light, overgrown paths, the softness of a child’s hand in her own. As a photographer, she captures not just what’s in front of her lens, but what’s felt: stillness, connection, the ache of fleeting beauty.

Marilla lives in Hobart, Tasmania, where she is raising her young children and tending to a life rooted in joy, warmth, and wonder. Her path has wandered through both horticulture and graphic design, but she’s now found her truest calling—telling stories through light and love, one frame at a time.

Now I’m exactly where I’m meant to be,” she says. “Capturing hearts through the lens of my camera.”

Her work carries a quiet nostalgia, a tenderness that feels like home. Her photography sessions are designed to create more than just beautiful images—they become memories in themselves: sentimental, joy-filled, and soul-soothing.

And in her own daily rhythms, we love the way Marilla wears Meadowsweet. She reaches for the Daphne Nightie and the Bramble Posy dress during slow mornings in the garden, arms full of flowers or little ones, creating moments that feel both sacred and simple. Her style is soft, grounded, and ever so timeless—just like her imagery.

Whether she’s walking barefoot through sun-drenched fields or reading stories with her children under a tree, Marilla reminds us that beauty is not always loud—it’s found in gentleness, in presence, in the pause.

A Little Q&A with Marilla

What’s your favourite way to wear your Meadowsweet piece?

My favourite way to wear my Meadowsweet pieces is layered underneath a cosy knitted jumper or cardigan, paired with boots or garden clogs depending on the occasion.

What does slow living mean to you?

Slow living is almost a lost way of life but it’s truly where the gold is. Slowing down allows me to appreciate my blessings, find beauty in the ordinary and give my children a rich childhood full of peace and connection—whether it’s baking together, gardening, playing, reading or adventuring. Capturing slow, meaningful moments through my lens is a labour of love and I’m so grateful I get to photograph moments in time for others.

What are you currently reading or dreaming about?

I am currently reading ‘Educating the Wholehearted Child’ by Clay & Sally Clarkson and dreaming about morning cups of coffee & sun-drenched days with the people I love. To be honest, I feel like I’m living the dream already.

Thank you, Marilla, for being part of the farmhouse.

Your life is a living poem, and we are so honoured to have you as one of our muses.
