Design Notes: The Story Behind the Moonflower Nightie & Rosewood Cardigan

At Meadowsweet Farmhouse, every piece begins with a feeling. A whisper of a season, the texture of a memory, or a fleeting image that lingers in the mind like a half-remembered dream.

Today, we wanted to share the stories behind two of our most loved designs—pieces that seem to find their way into the most cherished corners of your days: the Moonflower Nightie and the Rosewood Cardigan.

The Moonflower Nightie

There’s something otherworldly about the moonflower vine—its velvet-soft petals unfurling under cover of darkness, releasing a delicate fragrance into the night air. It’s tender, ephemeral, and quietly enchanting.

We named the Moonflower Nightie after this night-blooming beauty for the way it makes you feel when you wear it. Soft against the skin, light as air, and stitched with subtle romance, it’s made for the moments no one sees but you remember.

Whether you’re rising slowly with the light or tucking into an evening book, the Moonflower was designed to bring beauty to your in-between hours. It’s a love letter to the quiet life—to softness, simplicity, and grace.

The Rosewood Cardigan

This piece was dreamt up after a weekend country drive—one of those slow, winding days where time stretches and everything feels a little softer. We passed through a charming little town called Rosewood, full of old Queenslander homes, weathered fences, and rose vines tumbling over garden gates. The name stayed with us.

The Rosewood Cardigan was made for days like that. For layering over dresses on crisp mornings, or slipping on while you pack an order, stir a pot, or step outside to watch the mist roll in. It’s warm, weighty, and quietly elegant—just like the countryside that inspired it.

These pieces are more than just garments. They’re companions to your rituals—woven with intention and designed to make everyday life feel a little more like a story worth savouring.

Thank you for loving them the way you do.
